Incentive programmes: a strategic lever to motivate your teams

What is an incentive? Why and how to organise one with Brasero?
A motivated team is a team that feels valued. And recognition does not always come through a bonus or a speech. How do you motivate a team over the long term? How do you thank employees for their efforts? Among the tools available to businesses, the incentive stands out as a powerful lever, complementary to other well-known formats such as team building.

Understanding what an incentive is

The term “incentive” refers to a set of methods used to stimulate the motivation of a group. It can take various forms: a trip, a group activity or a more original experience. But beyond the format, what defines an incentive is its intention: to express strong recognition and create a memorable moment to reward the people involved.

Unlike a bonus, which is often impersonal, an incentive is built on shared experience. It draws on emotion and the collective spirit. It conveys a message: “You have given a great deal. You are important to us. Here is what we offer in return.”

Team building and incentive: two complementary approaches

Team building is often confused with incentive. Yet these two formats do not serve the same purpose, nor do they have the same impact. They do not address the same objectives.

Team building aims to strengthen team cohesion: learning to work better together, improving communication and forging stronger bonds.

The incentive, on the other hand, typically comes after a period of effort, to celebrate an achievement, thank a team or re-energise a group. It is a recognition tool that addresses both the individual and the collective. When used effectively, team building and incentive do not stand in opposition: they serve different objectives depending on the context.

Why organise an incentive for your teams?

Organising an incentive addresses several key management and human resources challenges. Among the most tangible benefits:

  • Strengthening employee engagement through sincere recognition
  • Recognising achievements, whether collective or individual, through a truly impactful experience
  • Creating a shared memory that is more powerful than a material reward
  • Retaining talent with a long-term perspective
  • Embedding company values through an embodied experience

At Brasero, we design the incentive as an immersive experience, capable of generating real impact. Our venues — the Château de la Louveterie and the Domaine de Bronromme — provide the ideal setting to step away from the everyday, create lasting impressions and strengthen bonds. We craft bespoke formats, aligned with the objectives of each company.

Case study: an incentive with Brasero

To reward its sales team, a pharmaceutical company approached us. We supported them in what we do best: organising an immersive, exclusive and bespoke retreat. Unique venus, lasting memories.

30 people to accommodate, a desire to get away from the city, the perfect balance between fun activities and inspiring conferences: the Domaine de Bronromme ticked every box.

Once settled into the lodge, the employees hopped on our fat bikes and e-bikes for an exploration of the Belgian Ardennes. An adventure activity blending fun, discovery and team spirit.

To stay fully connected to the present moment, lunch was served outdoors, along the route. On the menu: regional specialities, served against a breathtaking backdrop.

Back at the Domaine de Bronromme, it was on to La Bergerie. The team gathered for an inspiring conference, fostering exchanges, ideas and open-mindedness.

The day concluded on a festive note, with an immersive casino night. More than just a game, this experience proved to be a remarkable driver of team cohesion.

Two birds, one stone.

A day designed for the team, experienced as genuine recognition. The employees left feeling united, but above all valued.

Summary: team building or incentive — which should you choose?

As you will have gathered, your choice will depend on several criteria. Why am I organising this event? What message do I want to convey?

After an intense project, at the end of the year, etc.
Type of experience

Key takeaways

The incentive does not replace team building. It complements it. It is a powerful recognition tool that fosters lasting employee engagement and creates memories that truly matter.

For companies seeking to motivate their teams differently and mark a turning point in collective dynamics, the incentive becomes a genuine strategic lever. Especially when it is designed with purpose, in a setting that inspires.
